A short biography

Thor-Christian Ebbesvik

Thor-Christian started his racing career in Go-Cart back in 1994 driving Micro and Mini up until 1997, when our local test track was closed down. Being out of training facilities for almost 4 years did not gain him much, but as he passed 18 and got his driving licence, he was able to get to tracks elsewhere.

From -97 on he did 3 seasons Karting in the Rotax Max 125 Challenge, ending up as Norwegian champion in 2004, and as a result of this, he also represented Norway during the world-final at Lanzarote in January 2005.

Thor-Christian aimed for an international career within racing; with the main objective of reaching Formula 1 as the first Norwegian ever. 

With the help of, amongst other, Harald Huysman it was decided to do the Formula Ford Championship in England. After some impressive testing, Team JLR, who won the championship in 2003 and was runner-up in 2004, took interest in Thor-Christian and signed him up for their team. In their opinion Thor-Christian really possessed the personal abilities needed to reach his target.

After having done two seasons in British Formula Ford with good results, Thor-Christian decided to advance on to Formula 3. A deal was made with British Team West-Tec to do the Spanish F3 Championship in 2007, resulting in Thor-Christian taking the overall title in class B on his first attempt. In his second year in a class A car, somewhat blighted by technical challenges, the highlight of the season was his superb driving to victory at the new Street circuit in Valencia in front of all the F1 and GP2 teams.

Extensive testing with GP2 late -08 gave him options to drive in the-09 season, but as the financial crisis struck us in full, another season in F3 became his alternative in -09. As the sponsor market got heavily affected by the new economic situation , Thor-Christian decided to turn his interest from F1 toward sportscar racing.

In 2010 he raced the LMP2-class in the Le Mans Series for Team Bruichladdich and was one of the front runners in the class. He missed the 24 hour race at Le Mans because of an accident at Spa.

In 2011 he will again compete for the same team, that now has changed its name to Greaves Motorsport.
